  • Lonely Planet
Miami, Florida's most populated city, sits at the southeastern tip of the most southeastern state of the United States, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the east, the Gulf of Mexico to the west and the neighboring states of Alabama and Georgia to the north.

Most visitors aren't here for Miami itself, but rather to visit Miami Beach, an entirely separate municipality. Miami is on the mainland, while the city of Miami Beach is on a thin barrier island about 6km (4mi) to its east, across Biscayne Bay - locals call it the Billion Dollar Sandbar. On the mainland, the street numbering system is based on north-south and east-west dividers.

  • Needle Work Records
Needlework Records was formed in 2003 by DJ Monk-a and Mr Trick. Its roots lie in the club night of the same name that they joined together to promote. As keen fans of the turntablist art form, they felt it was long overdue that someone started a night that would provide grass-roots support to tablists based in and around London. Thus, in February 2003 the first Needlework night was held, featuring the now 2003 DMC UK Team champions the Truesicians. The highlights were aired on Mr Trick’s Turntable Radio show on London’s Resonance 104.4FM, and the rest is history. Since then, appearing DJs have included DJ Quest (current DMC UK champ), Tigerstyle (current World Supremacy champ), Skarfade (UK DMC finalist), the SampleMoveMen (2003 Dutch ITF champions) DJ Kayper (Juice 2003 battle winner) and more.

Mobile phones and smartphones are not the same thing (O'Reilly Media)
Comparing a basic mobile phone to a spiffy new smartphone is like comparing a circa-1993 desktop computer to a Macbook Pro. They're related in a basic sense, but the discrepancies are immense. RIAA in pickle over Jammie Thomas ruling
On Friday, Michael Davis, chief judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, made what some legal experts say is an unprecedented move involving statutory damages in a copyright case, when he reduced the jury-awarded amount by 97 percent. Davis called the $1.9 million amount "monstrous and shocking," changing the damages to $54,000, which he said was still "significant and harsh." ~~~Hey, if she keeps taking them to court, maybe she'll get them down to $10 bucks, or maybe they'll even end up paying her to make it all go away :)~~~

Will Apple Bury Lala's 10 Cent Songs?
Apple has purchased digital music company lala - the originator of the 10-cent web song. Lala customers would rent these audio chunks for the low price of ten pennies and play them at the lala site. Since users can't download the songs, it's really a rent
